The Quartet Project, the Lake Superior Chamber Orchestra’s educational outreach program, is an intensive summer chamber music program for advanced string instrumentalists.
Students participate in rehearsals and coaching with faculty artists from the Lake Superior Chamber Orchestra. They study chamber music repertoire (quartets, trios, quintets) in addition to orchestral music. Group session topics often include music theory and composition, instrument care, and musician ergonomics and health.
Students also receive season tickets to the LSCO summer season, in which one of the concerts the students join the LSCO in a public side-by-side performance. The Quartet Project concludes with the students’ own dedicated concert event.
This activity is made possible in part by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council, thanks to appropriations from the Minnesota State Legislature’s general and arts and cultural heritage funds.
